How are Wholly Noggin bars different from other nutrition bars?
While there the many distinct differences (depending on the type of alternative bar), the primary ones are that they provide premium ‘real food’ for both the body & mind. Being rich in essential fatty acids like Omega 3’s and antioxidants as well as low in sugar (only complex ones from fruit & vegetables), they not only provide the energy needed for both body & the brain but many of the healthy fats, vitamins, trace minerals and phytonutrients needed on a daily basis. These come from ‘raw’ virtually unprocessed nuts, seeds, berries, fruit and vegetables – all organic so are a lot more readily absorbable than most bars and meal replacements on the market (see benefits of eating raw below).
How many flavours are there?
There are four flavours:
- Walnut Blueberry
- Dark Chocolate Walnut Blueberry
- Almond Super Berries
- Dark Chocolate Almond Super Berries
Why are Wholly Noggin bars made with 95% organic products?
On a per gram basis, the organic ingredients in the bars provide the healthiest fats, vitamins, trace minerals and phytochemicals needed on a daily basis than non-organic products. While many bars now have organic ingredients, it’s important to note what kind of ingredients make up the bar. Although they may be ‘organic’, many are still considered ‘fillers’ and more processed sugars, they still do not provide the rich nutrients that Wholly Noggin bars provide on a per gram/oz. basis. In fact, many have more of a negative impact on one’s health.
Why not 100%?
While we try our best to source all organic ingredients, sometimes it is cost prohibitive to purchase the larger quantities needed for every single ingredient as we expand across Canada.
What are the benefits of eating raw foods?
According to the Raw Food Society of BC (see www.rawbc.org),” cooking food destroys most of the food’s nutrients, antioxidants, vitamins and enzymes, which are essential to life and health. A raw diet is the more natural way to eat. All of nature consumes its food raw. Human beings are the only species that cook their food! Look at the worsening condition of our health. We have more obesity, more cancer, more heart conditions, and more diabetes.
A higher percentage of uncooked, fresh, raw fruits and vegetables in your diet may reverse many modern ailments and diseases” RawBC further outlines 10 key benefits of eating raw vegan foods:
- Increase energy and vitality
- Gain mental clarity

What makes Wholly Noggin a good brain food?
Many of the ingredients in Wholly Noggin bars are considered as the top brain foods.Medical research reveals that depending on genetics, lifestyle, and experiences, a deficiency in omega-3 or an excess of other fats can lead to brain disorders. Walnuts, flaxseeds and chai seeds are rich sources of Omega-3s while fruits such as blueberries, cranberries, goji berries, bananas, and oranges are rich in antioxidants needed to prevent oxidative stress (precursor to many neurological diseases), inflammation, and enhance blood brain connections.
Almonds, and walnuts are all good sources of the powerful antioxidant vitamin E, which kills free radicals that can damage brain cells and cause disease. Dried coconut and flax seeds are also brain superfoods because, like almonds, they’re such good sources of magnesium—a nutrient that may help improve memory and protect against age-related memory loss, according to a study in the journal Neuron. Researchers suspect that magnesium enhances the brain’s plasticity—its ability to change and grow with experience—and increases the number of brain synapses that can be activated.
A study in the journal Alzheimer’s and Dementia found that people who supplemented their diets with DHA had the learning and memory skills of someone up to three years younger. To make DHA, your body needs alpha-linolenic acid [ALA], which is found in flax, hemp, chia, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, soy and leafy greens.
The lack of ‘disguised sugars’ (such as agave syrups, honey, evaporated cane sugar, etc.) Is also very beneficial for the brain as excess sugar levels leads to blood sugar abnormalities, increased risk of obesity, neurological conditions, and even forms of depression. Excessive sugar also promotes brain fog, sluggish thinking and generally being unfocused.
The dark chocolate ingredients such as cacao butter and powder, cinnamon within the two Wholly Noggin bars are also brain-friendly antioxidants and decrease inflammation.
